When John Barbour founded the company in 1894, he originally set out to provide the dockers and fisherman of South Shields with warm and functional clothing to withstand wet weather conditions. Barbour would later evolve to produce motorcycling clothing and even design the Ursula suit which was worn by members of the British Navy in WW2. In the latter half of the 20th century, the label began increasingly recognised for its collection of countrywear that exuded style and glamour, whilst retaining grit and durability through functionality. Today, Barbour symbolises an enduring British heritage brand, with its classic men's styles always a popular choice for men with taste.
